Holiday farm in Umbria: Borgo Trevine

This holiday farm (Agriturismo) in the hillside close to Citta di Castello is in a small borgo with views over the Tiber Valley. There is a pool for use of the guests of the farm and a small restaurant where the lovely, and real Italian, owners serve excellent meals prepared with exceptional care and their own produce. There are 7 apartments for rent. Here you can also do a cooking course (minimal 4 participants). Now nothing remains of the castle but the name refering to its three towers. The only other buildings remaining are an old stone Fattoria (farm) and the ruins of some old typically Umbrian houses. Situated about 10 km from Città di Castello, the site is ideal for day trips to explore cities rich in Italy's cultural and artistic heritage in both Umbria and Tuscany. Part of the property is used for farming. You can buy fresh vegetables, eggs, olive oil, honey, wine and marmelade. The guests at Borgo Trevine will find a restaurant, where all products served are home grown and the spaghetti, ravioli, etc. are home made. The restaurant is closed on Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays. The owners run the restaurant themselves, for guests of the farm (you can book free breakfast the day after arrival and you can also book a dinner, not free, for the night of arrival). All apartments have a living room with kitchen corner and bathroom. Two apartments have one bedroom, three have two bedrooms and one has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Most apartments have a private terrace with outside furniture. There is a lovely swimming pool 6 m x 12 m, and a large terrace equipped with garden furniture. A washing machine is available. Heating is not included. You pay for this before departure. Guests bring their own towels for the pool. The owners offer a free breakfast the morning after arrival. The evening of your arrival you can eat at the restaurant (prices vary from Eur 18 to Eur 25). If you like the breakfast and/or the dinner please book this beforehand. Special offer: 10% reduction on the second week in low and medium season for 2 weeks rental and 15% reduction for 3 weeks rental on the third week. Apartment Rondine (58 m2) has one bedroom, a bathroom, kitchen with ample relaxing area and a small garden. There are 4 steps in front of the front door. Apartment Rosa (60 m2) is on the first floor and has a private terrace on the ground floor. Two bedrooms, one bathroom and a kitchen with also a sofa. Apartment La Rocca (60 m2) is also on the first floor and has a private terrace with less wide views. Two bedrooms, one bathroom and a kitchen. Apartment Belvedere (60 m2) is on the first floor has a private terrace with very nice views (roof terrace). Two bedrooms, one bathroom and a kitchen. Apartment Loggia (100 m2) has three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a kitchen with dishwasher. The private terrace for this apartment is on top of the outside stairs, in front of the kitchen. Apartment Giglio (40 m2) is on the ground floor and has a private terrace. One bedroom, bathroom and living room with kitchen corner. This apartment is suitable for wheelchair users. It can be joined with Granaio, making it a 3 bedroom apartment. Apartment Granaio (50 m2) is on the ground floor and has a private terrace. Two bedrooms, one bathroom, a living room with kitchen corner (with dishwasher). It can be joined with Giglio, making it a 3 bedroom apartment. Apartment I Lecci (80 m2) is on the second floor of the main building and does not have a private terrace. There are 2 bedrooms sharing one bathroom and a kitchen. How to book: you can send us an email indicating the apartment name, the period you would like, your address and telephone number and the number of people in your group (for details see contact Villa in Umbria). We will double check the availability with the owners and then confirm your booking. The owners ask 30% payment upon booking and the rest one month before arrival. The security deposit is 150 euro. Comments guests Borgo Trevine Back to the description of Borgo Trevine From 2009: We rented the Granaio apartment at Borgo Trevine and it was superb! -clean, good beds, comfortable and even fly screens! -wonderful views -good restaurant at good prices -very kind owners   In short, one of the top accomodation to add to our list of accomodations to visit in Umbria! Kind regards, Ben   We stayed at Borgo Trevine, apartment Rosa. Positive: large bedrooms and bathroom. Less positive: the owners really only speak italian. The website mentions cooking lessons, but I did not do it, since it seemed impossible to comunicate. The website talks about wellness activities at Borgo Trevine, but to take part you will have to call a number to make a reservation. This is not what I had expected. It also says that there are local products for sale. I did not see them and I couldn't ask either, because of the language problem. We would have enjoyed the possibility to take a capucino during the day or an ice-cream for the children. Inventory of the kitchen is reduced and we had a small terrace underneath the outside staircase (we knew that beforehand, though). On the whole, we enjoyed our holiday and fondly remember our stay at Borgo Trevine. Positive(in no special order...... ;-)): -Stunning location -Well done, spacious appartments -Nice amenities (because of the bad weather didn't try the pool....beginning of June) -Very kind and helpful owners -Fantastic local kitchen including 'La Mama'! Negative: - A bit isolated (for a supermarket with a larger assortment  one has to go to Citta di Castello, a 30 minutes drive) - We specifically had asked for an appartment on the ground floor without stairs (we brought a puppy). We got an appartment with an outdoor stair...... switching was impossible. All in all verry good! La Loggia apartment is really comfortable and so clean, as was the bedding, linen etc. The restaurant was wonderful, the family so friendly, my grandchildren played with their children, in fact everything about the place, pool, gardens, premises was perfect, as I am sure you already know. The other guests, (especially the Dutch ones!), were a pleasure to share our holiday with. Kind regards, Eileen   Hello, About our holiday in Borgo Trevine: Nice owners, really make efforts to please you. but: the layout of the appartments is very inconvenient beacause of their proximity. All cars in front of the doors, rather provincial. We stayed in apartment Rondine wich provided some privacy, next to us the two apartments had cars, so to speak, drive over ones toe's when seated on the terrace. All in all a bit akward. Nonetheless we had a nice holiday. Once more, the owners are very sweet people who mean well but don't yet really understand what the west-european holidaymakers wants.
