Hello Willemijn & Saskia
Thank you for your email asking for feedback.
Firstly, we were recommended to use Villa in Umbria by my sister and are very happy that we did. You have communicated with us very well and have answered any questions promptly. Your new web site and client information is very attractive and easy to use and there are many villas to choose from. We travelled to Italy to become married and needed a place to stay the week before our 'wedding week' fairly close to Arezzo.
We chose Casa Cortona, where both my parents and us could stay close together but in separate apartments. We were late on arrival, but this was no problem to the owners. Simone was very welcoming and shown us around the apartments.
I had forgotten to order a highchair, but Simone offered us one if we needed it. The cot was ready with sheet supplied. We had everything we needed, washing machine, dishwasher, BBQ and a large family kitchen. We also loved the window shutters and net guards as we could have the shutters closed to minimise the heat getting in but we could also have the windows open without fear of the mosquitos getting in!
The pool was clean, had access to pool wc and an area to dine there too. However, I definitely think that there should be a smaller 'paddling' type pool for the babies as the pool is quite deep, even for my mum who cannot swim and felt a bit out of her depth as she is only 5 foot tall. There would be space on the lawned area by the pool for this to be implemented and this would have had a great impact on our holiday. This is the only aspect that we consider should be improved.
Simones mum and dad were staying directly opposite us but we did not feel that we were being 'watched' at all. Everyone was really laid back, but were around if we needed them. They also ran a little shop in Cortona and this made us feel quite welcome there when we went to visit.
All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider staying there again. Thanks again for your service and look forward to using Villa in Umbria again in the future.

From 2010:
Summer 2010 we, 2 parents and 2 children (4 and 1 year old) stayed at apartment Bako of Casa Cortona. It is a spacious luxury apartment. We were pleasantly surprised by the space and all comfort (dishwasher, washing machine and oven). Unfortunately our satellite TV was a bit difficult now and then and gave no sound which was a pity during the World Championship football. In those cases we switched to Italian TV which worked just fine. The son of the owner Simone is not really fluent in English but his girlfriend helps him out which makes for good communication. Simone is very good-natured and practically passes every day to mow the grass or do something else. Because of its position we could keep a really good eye on our children from the apartment. The pool area is spacious. The surrounding area sports many nice towns. We really liked this place.

Dear Saskia,
Hereby a short reaction.
We had a great time! The location was perfect for three families enjoying their holiday together, not least thanks to the walled garden adjacent to all the apartments we rented. Lovely pool! The owner was very kind and helpful. The location gave us the opportunity to make lovely outings and we had very good weather. Apart from the fact that a toilet seat was loose and a cabinet made it hard to sit down on it and a showerhead was difficult to put in the right position we have no comments.
Ah, the dishwasher was somewhat difficult to start. We already reported this to Simone. As far as we are concerned we would really recommend this place.
Kind regards, M.
From 2009:
We had two good weeks in Casa Cortona. The weather wasn't fantastic but unfortunately that cannot be organised. The owner is friendly and we hadn't any problems at all.
Thank you and regards, Wammes
Dear Saskia and Willemijn,
We would like to share with you our experiences is the apartment Bako at Casa Cortona.
Casa Cortona is a good holiday location, well taken care of. The apartment Bako is spacious with large bedrooms as you describe on your webpage.
We did miss the coffeemaker, but got used to making coffee the italian way.
The pool was lovely, also because it is a bit away from the apartments.
One morning the grandmother of the family visited us and asked us something. Since we do not uynderstand italian we did not understand and she returned grumbling to her house. Later we understood she asked for some bread. We think she is a little demented, the family apologised for her behaviour. We never saw her again that week. It nmust be wonderful to be able to live independently when you are 92!
Saturday afternoon we arrived early at 13.00 and were immediately welcomed by the family. We were told the dishwasher leaked water now and then, but this should not cause us any problems. WE regularly cleaned used the dishwasher and even cleaner the sprinklers, which made ir work mnuch better. Sometimes it leaked water, but we arranged ourselves.
Walking to Camucia is quite possible, to Cortona is too far away (steep hill).
It is a good apartment and we can easily recommend it to other guests. We thoroughly enjoyed Umbria and Tuscany and will return when we can.
Thank you for all the information you gave us.
Kind regards, Adri
Hello Saskia and Willemijn,
I always wanted to send you a message, but it took me a while.
Really we do not have any particular remarks. We liked it all and would like to return.
What we do want to tell you, though, is that the owner should add salt to the dishwasher. I did add it myself and it cleaned better after that.
We also missed coffe cups. There were many espresso cups, but no larger cups, like we are used to. We rented the Aurora apartment.
Further then that, we have nothing to add. The owner is very friendly as well as the rest of the family.
Good luck with your organisation. I can recommend it warmly. We enjoyed meeting you and getting even more information from you.

Hello Saskia and Willemijn,
We had a good stay in Cortona. It was a lovely house, quiet settinmgs and friendly owners. We had a cooking course they organised for us and we enjoyed it thoroughly. Casa Cortona can be recommended to anyboduy looking for peace, quiet and interesting sights to see in the immediate surroundings. During the noght it was very hot, thoough. Opening windows invited a lot of mosquitoos. There is hardly anything you can do about that, I'm afraid.
Regards, Marleen
To Willemijn and Saskia,
We made a last minute decision to visit Italy and booked the Neptuno apartment at Casa Cortona. A good choice: the house was spacious and clean.
Arriving we did not see anybody, and after 30 minutes waiting and relaxing after a long trip, we decided to call Saskia. Only 15 minutes later the mother of Simone arrived with the keys. Two days later Simone told us why he was not there and brought two bottles of wine.
Upon departure we got another two bottles. The apartment is furnitured well, dishwasher, oven etc. The inventory seemed quite complete. The bedrooms are spacious and the beds are of good quality.
En bij vertrek nog eens twee lekkere flessen. De inrichting van het appartement is erg compleet. Keuken met vaatwasser, oven etc. The small garden to the back of the house is very pleasant.
Also the bathroom was fine. Nothing negative? You'd ask? Probably if you look well and long, there will be something to comment, but we didn't notice anything.
Near to the apartments part of the family is living and the lady speaks English quite ok. They brought us tomatoes which tasted heavenly. Also the "nonna" lives on the premises. She talks very loudly to herself. The family often asked us whether she did not disturb us. We always denied. After a day or so. You get used to her and she becomes part of the environment. They did tell us, that she doesn't always use very correct vocabulary (ha ha!)
After a week we said good bye to her and she wished us a good trip.
To finish: also this time we had a filter coffee machine in the apartment. During our earlier stay via you, the owner also supplied us with a filter coffee maker. A nice attention, but when I am in Italy, I make coffee like the italians do. Imagine, we would find a senseo in Italy! Absurd!
In short, we had a lovely week, on a lovely location in a lovely country. We'd like to repeat it! Especially when booking is made so easy by Villa in Umbria.
Kindest regards, Ard & Nathalie
Reaction of the owner: The grandma will have another home next year. She may sleep in her apartment, but will not be present at the Casa Cortona during the day.
From before 2009:
Dear Saskia and Willemijn,
we hereby would like to let you know about our weeks stay in Casa Cortona.
Casa Cortona is a good and well maintained holiday rental complex. Apartment Bako is spacious and very nice with big bedrooms, exactly like your description.
We did miss a coffeemaker, but the Italian style coffee also was very nice.
The pool is excellent and we enjoyed it, especially because it is set slightly apart from the apartments.
One morning the old grandmother came to our table, but none of us understands Italian and after a while she left, clearly not happy with the situation. Later we understood she had asked for bread and we guess the old lady is dementing. The family apologised for the incident. The rest of the week we did not have further visits. We do think it is wonderful when a 92 year old lady can still be independent.
We arrived Saturday around 1300 hours and received a warm welcome from the familiy of Simone, who showed us the apartment. The lady told us about a small leak in the dishwasher, but we managed to use it without big problems.
The distance to Cortona is too far to walk we thought. However it is a nice walk to Camucia.
The apartment is very nice and we will recommend it to others. We enjoyed Tuscany and Umbria and will definitely return.
We also would like to thank you for all the information.
Best wishes, Adri
The owner asks a downpayment of 30% of the rental fee. The rest can be paid in cash upon arrival.
