Il Podere

The six apartments of Il Podere in Umbria are described below.

Picchio (sleeps 2+2):
First floor apartment with private covered terrace on top of the external stairs. Living room with kitchen corner and sofa bed for two people. Bedroom with double bed. Bathroom. Total 50 m2.

  

Merlo (sleeps 2+2+2):
Apartment with entrance and living room on the ground floor (with kitchen corner and sofa bed for 2 people), also on the ground floor a bathroom with only toilet and small sink, internal stairs with platform with another sofa bed for two. Bedroom with double bed and bathroom. Private terrace on the ground floor. Total 65 m2.

  

Tordo (sleeps 4+2):
Ground floor apartment with lovely outside table under an old tree. Living room with fire place and kitchen corner, sofa bed for two guests. One double bedroom with bathroom and a twin bedroom with another bathroom. Total 70 m2.

  

Quercia (2+2):
Apartment with entrance, living room and spacious kitchen on the ground floor, internal stairs leading to the bedroom and bathroom. Living room has a sofa bed for two. Private outside terrace. Total 50 m2.

  

Leccio (2+2):
First floor apartment with outside stairs (shared with apartment Noce), with one double bedroom, a bathroom and a living room with kitchen corner and sofa bed for two. Total 50 m2.

  

Noce (sleeps 5):
First floor apartment with outside stairs (shared with apartment Leccio). Spacious living room with fire place and kitchen corner, open stairs leading to wooden mezzanine with a single bed. Two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with two single beds. One bathroom. Total 75 m2.

   

Prices are all inclusive (final cleaning, utilities, towels for use in the house), apart from heating in the winter. Guests bring their own towels for the pool.

Also available in common use is a washing machine (3 euro per wash).

An extra bed can be added in most cases, the price is 30 euro per week per extra bed. Use of the washing machine is 3 euro each wash.
Dogs are welcome paying 30 euro extra.

In high season change-over day is always on Saturday. Out of high season and upon specific request arrival and departure day can be different.

This was one of our best holidays.
We enjoyed everything, hosts of Il Podere were very welcoming.
We also enjoyed your tour to Montelabate abbey.
Only downside – we wished to stay in Umbria some weeks longer.

Hello Willemijn and Saskia,

First of all we once again had a fantastic location. Beautiful views, very quiet, well maintained and friendly owners. The road is, after Il Borgo, really more for a survival race than we had expected and then it also did rain, making the road even more difficult to drive on.

Our house Quercia was perfect for the 4 of us. The two children slept on the settee-bed and we in the wonderful bedroom.

One point for attention is that in the afternoon the sun is shining right into the apartment, making it impossible to be there. Maybe a few more trees or other shade would make it a better place to also enjoy the outside during the day.

Dear Willemijn and Saskia,

we have had a wonderful holiday, everything was very OK, beautiful apartment, lovely pool and fantastic views.

We have therefore enjoyed ourselves totally.

A big concern however is the road. It is about 6 km in the first gear over loose stones, constantly worrying to damage the car (next week I will know more because I will bring it for a check-up).

This definitely is not a relaxed drive

However, I fear these is no easy solution for this.

I also really wanted to congratulate you. I do not think I have ever booked a holiday in such an easy and efficient way.

We were extremely pleased for the conditions and the dicret hospitality of the owners (Giulio and his charming mother).

Our total evaluation is 5 stars of 5 if someone wants to stay in peace and quiet place with the family and on the same time to visit Umbrian best sightseeings. In addition - nice pool, no chloride, clean rooms, good tap-water, clean towels and sheets.

Dear Saskia and Willemijn

It was a good holiday. The house was beautifully situated, just hard to reach! There is no good mobile connection.

The owners Francesca and Giulio speak english well and are very hospitable. Upon arrival there was a small present in the apartment. The location was perfect, nice and clean  pool, good sauna! We enjoyed it a lot staying here and had good contact with the other guests.

PS Near Tavernelle, just before taking the trun for Casaglia there now is a very good A&O supermarket that does not close at lunch time!

our holiday at Il Podere was a very good choice! Very warmly recommended to anybody who appreciates the peace and quiet of a remote place.

The road arriving up there made me a bit sick the first times, but it is worth it and Giulio is a perfect host.

We'd like to give you some feed back about our stay at Il Podere, apartment Quercia:

amazing location, amidsts olive and oak trees, very quiet

very well taken care of and a good pool

the first week there were only two other families which made it even more peaceful

There is no mobile connection to speak of = TOP!

The apartment is basic but spacious, anything you need is present.

Stylish furniture, enough umbrellas, deck chairs etc.

There are a lot of fine details

Change of bedlinnen and towels once a week

Friendly and discrete owners. Giulio even came by late one evening when the lghts fell out.

The onlt "but", which at the smae time is a big plus, is the remoteness of the place. We did have problems now and then driving the country lane to arriva home.

This is an ideal place to relax, chill, read a book, socialize with other guests and only now and then a trip in the area.

This is an address to cherrish!

Dear Saskia and Willemijn,

We had a lovely holiday in apartment Noce, Il Podere). Julio and Francesca are very sweet and sympathetic people.

The pizza evening was a good initiative and the premises were what we expected.

We have no particular despite maybe that the kutchen utrensils need to be checked out and could be a bit more abundant.

The road to arrive at Il Podere was a bit scary the first time, but having been to Tavernelle once or twice it already seemed normal.

We were scared by a snake and a scorpion, but were told these are not dangerous. Maybe good to know for any future guests.

Maybe noit until next year, but surely in 2011 we will be back!

We very much enjoyed our holiday at apartment Merlo at Il Podere.

Very kind owners, good accomodation and very quiet.

The road going up is not as bad as it seems. In the house we found prosecco, pasta, and milk. The first week Giulio also brought a crate full of apples!

Dear Saskia and Willemijn,

We think the apartment near lake Trasimeno  is fanastic. It is a beautiful place, the apartments have been made with nice materials, lovely pool (without Chlorine) and the friendly caring owners.

We would return in a heartbeat. Maybe we were lucky because we were early in the season wich made it quite near the pool wich we only had to share with one family. The only drawback is the road that leads to it but we knew that beforehand. We thought Montefalco was very special with the fabulous church and the unexpectedly stunning fresco's by local Umbrian painters.

If you know of any other such magnificent places in other parts of Umbria (with swimming pool please) we would be glad to receive further information next year. Thanks for the splendid communication on your behalf.

Hello Saskia and Willemijn,

We really enjoyed ourselves. The drive over the sandy path is worth the trouble with in the evenings a chance to spot some wildlife (very nice for the children)

Splendid location and nice house. Wide fabulous view of the valley. We also enjoyed the sauna and jacuzzi. Especially in the evening there is nothing more pleasant than dipping into the cold water of the pool under a star sprankled sky after a visit to the sauna. And after that relax a while in the jacuzzi. Very hospitable hostess and host and a great pizzaparty with pizza's from the woodoven. To be recommended.
