La Vigna
La Vigna (the vineyard) is situated in the centre of Umbria, just below the old village of Saragano (in the area of Collazzone).
The owners have turned this antique building into a small scale holiday rental, with cantina (where they make wine and olive oil).
There are 3 apartments for rent, sharing a nice swimming pool and garden. One apartment has two bedrooms and the others have one bedroom.
The main house with origins from the 17th century, was renewed in the 90's. The owners have maintained its original structure. In the main house the owners have their own apartment. They use this occasionally as they are living in Rome and come now and then in the weekends. One of the three apartments is also in the main house. The other two apartments are in the newly built house below where the cantina is (where the wine is made).
The property is surrounded by olive groves, vineyards and some fields with cereals. Furthermore there is some forest and a natural Mediterranean vegetation. The holiday rental is about 350 meters above sea level, and enjoys beautiful views over the Umbrian hills.
La Vigna has everything you need for a great stay in the heart of the Umbria hills. The three apartments (one with 2 bedrooms and the other two each with one bedroom) have private terraces and nice space in front of the door. The kitchens have 4 pit cooker, fridge (the two bedroom apartment has a big fridge, the others an under the counter fridge).
La Vigna holiday rental has a swimming pool (5 by 12 meter with Roman steps on one side and 1.20 meter deep). The pool has spacious sun terraces with sun beds. There is a big BBQ guests can share. Furthermore there is a ping pong table and a "mini soccer" table.
Il Casale (sleeps 2+2, 35 m2): located in the antique original building. Entrance at the back with a few steps leading to the front door. Lot's of privacy with space to eat outside either at the door or on the big terrace a few steps away and up (the terrace looks over the house onto the Umbrian countryside). The apartment has one bedroom, a bathroom with a shower and a living area with kitchen corner and sofa-bed for two. One enters the apartment in a hall way with the bathroom to the right and the kitchen to the left. There are several steps leading down into the kitchen. The same applies to the bedroom, which is situated at the end of the hallway, several steps down.
L'Uliveto (sleeps 4, 40 m2): located in the newly built house where the cantina is. All ground floor with nice private outdoor area. There are two bedrooms sharing one bathroom with shower. The dining room has a kitchen corner with big fridge and small freezer.
Il Vigneto (sleeps 2, 25 sqm): located in the newly built house where the cantina is. The entrance is next to that of the cantina, in front of the house. One enters in the living room with kitchen corner. There is one bedroom with roof-window (and good shutters to keep the sun out) and one bathroom with shower.
Prices are in Euro per week and include clean linen and towels and usage of electricity and water. The costs of heating in winter are not included. Final cleaning has to be paid separately as per above. Guests bring their own towels for the pool.
All three apartments can be rented together to a maximum of 10 people: Eur 900 in low season, Eur 1300 in mid season and Eur 1650 in high season. Final cleaning and use of heating is extra.
The apartments of La Vigna can only be rented on request. In high season change-over day is always on Saturday. Out of high season and upon specific request arrival and departure day can be different.

From 2011:
As such it was a good place to stay. Friendly people, elegant furnished and the position was ideal. Many tours were easy to make. All was clean and the kitchen had new pans and other things we needed. We did regret that the terrace in the picture online was not our terrace in front of the apartment. We should have asked. Furthermore we had some occasional problems with hot water for the shower.
Best wishes, Leslie
Ladies,
we had a very good holiday in La Vigna. We can only be enthousiastic about the place, surroundings and the reception by the care taker plus the house is all aspects. We have no comments and as far as we are concerned only compliments. If we really do not to make a remark, we did miss a reading light in the house.
Also regarding the communication with you we only can give compliments. Fast reaction to our questions and all info was correct!!! We will certainly check your website again in case we would have plans to visit Umbria again.
Best wishes, Jan and Wennie
From 2010:
Hello Saskia and Willemijn,
We had a great holiday and were very lucky weather wise. The second week we were in Italy we stayed in la vigna. The owners did their best to create a place which would please the guests. The custodian became more and more relaxed during the week and was clearly practising his English on us. It took some time to fill in the registration form for tourists but after that Nello was on the loose. We already did some shopping in the supermarket but Nello spontaneously offered a box of his own eggs to us. This went on during the week and all in all we ate about 24. He also gave us a bottle of his homemade wine, so sweet! Another bottle offered to us upon leaving we kindly refused due to luggage restrictions of the airline. He took it well. We also met with the owners, the lady was very kind and gave us a handmade route description on how to get to the airport. One small comment: for Dutch renters a small dutch coffee machine might be welcome. The small Italian coffeemaker holds too many secrets for us. We saved ourselves by using our own filterbags with a funnel we bought at a Conad supermarket put on top of a winekaraf. Sacrilege it maybe but we had to do something. Worked very well for only 80 cents. Apart from that everything top.
We look back to the visit of the Montelabate with fond memories.
Regards, Wanda and Hans
Dear Saskia and Willemijn,
We have returned from our holiday in Umbria and Abruzzo. First of all compliments on your stellar service. We really enjoyed your quick responses to our questions and your complete information on the accommodation.
We loved La Vigna but have a few remarks which will make staying there even more agreeable.
Positive +: The welcome package with pasta, olive oil and other treats. The sofabed had already been made for the children. Very cosy house. Lovely views. Tranquil. The nice pool. Well kept grounds. Baker, supermarket and restaurants all within a range of 5 km.
Point to improve on -: Only the bathroom has a fly screen. The cutlery was in a drawer next to the sofa bed, placing it in the kitchen might be handier. On arrival the housekeeper asked us to pay. Our flight had been cancelled so we had the feeling of having been on the road for two days. We knew we had to pay the open standing bill and security deposit but we would have preferred doing some shopping and having breakfast first.
We hope you can do your advantage with these points and we will certainly recommend your organisation to others.
Kind regards, Epha and John
Comment Villa in Umbria: as from the 2011 season guests will be asked to pay the full rent before their arrival avoiding akward situations upon arrival.
The owners ask for a 30% booking deposit, via bank transfer. The balance can be paid one month before arrival. The security deposit is 150 euro.
