Dear Willemijn, Saskia!
Here is a little feedback of our journey in Umbria for the 5th time!!
We must tell that the place was perfect for 2 couples and kids!! the 2 bathrooms are very welcome!
It is very clean & bedrooms are big enough to put an extra bed for our little girl, lovely from the owners!!
Paola doesn't speak AT ALL other langage as italian, quite funny sometimes to make us understand!
We stayed 15 days and had 3 cakes as presents during our stay, and she cooked for us for a dinner!!!!so lovely again.
Paola was always concerned to make her possible to help us, that was so kind!
very little negative points:
The cleaning product into the swimming pool was so strong that 4 of our swimsuits went directly to the garbage! (they became yellow!)
The respect of the quietness was not so perfect...we really wanted to take some rest, but we could follow every discussions if we could understand a word!!they speak so loud!
well, doesn't matter, it's a part of Italy!!!
we 'll coming back on holidays with you without any doubts!!! (maybe more in the north of Umbria)
Thanks as usual!!!!!
Bye
Muriel, Gaetan, and Co!
Dear Willemijn and Saskia,
We are very happy about our stay. Despite the language barrier we felt very welcome.
We received a cake twice and one evening the owners cooked for us. We have never had this experience in all the years we visit Tuscany and Umbria. We appreciated it very much.
We would happy return to Todi house another time.
The apartment was very clean and spacious and had a nice balcony. We tremendously enjoyed the view. Having sun screening on the balcony was wonderful. During our stay it was very hot but thanks to the sun screens we could sit outside anyhow.
We only have a few small points that could improve:
- the fly sreen of the bedroom did not close properly (the one of the living room worked fine),
- while showering a lot of water would end up on the bathroom floor and then into the hall because of the shower curtain. We would advice the owner to put a shower cabin in here.
- there were no wine glasses in the apartment, yet we did receive a bottle of wine from the owners as a welcome present. It would be nice to have proper wine glasses.
- the pool is beautiful and clean, however the umbrellas are old and need replacing. Some are torn and besides these are very light umbrellas that blow away even with little wind.
Best wishes, Paulien en Patrick
From 2010:
As ever, the owners of Todi House made us feel very welcome with their generous hospitality. The villa is beautifully kept. We love the views across the hills towards Todi.
No complaints, very satisfied. Joel
Hello,
We spent a lovely week in Umbria.
The house is quite new but built in old style with a lovely veranda. The two sisters in law did a lot of extra things for the guests. Two times we received scrumptious cakes, they once made lunch and during the week we got fresh towels. The sisters are a bit shy and on the face not very cordial but the funny thing is they are extremely friendly. They only speak Italian. The very well kept pool is not shaded but has umbrellas. We didn't have any neighbours during the week which created a very quiet atmosphere on the veranda. The third apartment was above us, we didn't hear any moving of chairs as you can have in other apartments.
The views on Todi are magnificent and in the evening there was a welcome cool breeze to cool us down.
Kind regards, Wendie
Dear Saskia and Willemijn,
We are back from some sunny weeks in Italy. Our second holiday address was apartment 4 in Todi House.
No comments. Everything was well kept, clean and tidy and hostesses are very hospitable. As you mentioned on your site they only speak Italian. It posed no problem for us and gives your stay the right character. One night we feasted on a delicious dinner they prepared for us and a few times they made us some 'dolce'. The accessibility is good and is also recommended for the Italy-rookie. We know firsthand that one can end up in places which are by no means as good as this one.
Hopefully till a next time, kind regards, Marco & Petra
From 2009:
Dear Saskia and Willemijn,
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Umbria. Good house, friendly people and very hospitable.
Only "but": the towels are of the thin hotel type and could be a bit more.
Kind regards, Dorothé
Dear,
The house was just fine. No remarks at all.
Els
Ladies,
We were very content: good house and good views. There wer no wine glasses, we bought them ourselves and left them for the next guests.
Comunicating with the owners is a problem: they only speak italian.
Some of the children got ill, we we suspect this may be from the pool. The water didn't seem clear, but we cannot know this for sure.
We stayed when it was extremely warm. Without air condirioning this made it hard to sleep during the night.
ON the first floor, with the roof terrace, it was impossible to use this terrace: far too hot and umbrella's that were too small.
Friends of ours rented the ground floor apartment, so we used their terrace.
The owners prepared some lovely cakes for us and even cooked a dinner.
We had a wonderful holiday!
Regards, Danny
Dear Willemijn and Saskia,
In short, we had a perfect holiday at Todi House. The owners are very hospitable and helpful. They surprised us with a home made meal and three times we got a cake. A holiday to repeat!
With kind regards, Niclas, Yvonne, Joris and Willemijn
Hello Saskia and Willemijn,
We had a very good holiday and were really spoilt at the Todi House.
They just do not understand that we Nordic people like to stay outside, even with the heat (they stay inside). It was very kind that they bought an extra umbrella for the roof terrace, but it would be much more practical if they's fix a sunshade/roof or something smilar to cover this terrace.
After we met up with the wto of you, they immediatel made sure that we gos 6 larger cups and a water cooker. I appreciated that a lot.
Every three days we got a fresh cake and twice a home made meal.
Before departure I brought them some flowers to thank them, upon which we got another cake!
As you see, some very kind hosts, but whether they understand the commercial part of the business?
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
Regards, Sytse & Teuny
Hello Willemijn and Saskia,
We stayed at the Todi House for the second time. The ground floor apartment is just fine. Only tip would be that the pots and pans in the kitchen need to be looked at. We had an extremely large pan and an extremely small one. A bit more variety in a house for 6 people would be practical.
Our compliments for the hosts. They are very friendly and they even brought is an adapter when we asked for it.
Next year we will had for the Marche.
Kind regards, Aldo & Liesbeth
Dear Saskia and Willemijn,
We had an excellent holiday in Loreto di Todi (july)
The apartment was good, spacious and clean.
The contact with the woners was good, though they only speak italian. They really took care of us: every ither day a home made cake, one a week a home made dinner. They have thier own wine and oil also.
The owners regularly asked whether all was ok. We enjoyed it that much that we are considering returning here next year.
My thanks also to you for your services and information.
Kind regards, Raf
Saskia, Willemijn,
Our stay at Todi house was superb!
Very friendly people, who indeed only speak italian, but we thought tìit was charming.
The house was clean and spacious. Good furniture, good terrace with large table, 5 chairs and 2 umbrella's.
Upon arrival home made cake stood ready for us together with some of their own wine and oil. We had more cake during the week and even a home made meal. One evening we used the BBQ and they were very helpful making the fire for us and helping to clean up.
The pool was good withgood views. Some of the deckchairs will have to be replaced or fixed.
It is a very minor point, but we missed some scissors!
There is a laundrette, which they also use themselves. I thought it was dirty, though.
To conclude: a holiday to repeat!
Ans thanks to you too for your services.
Regards, An, Kris and Stephanie
From before 2009:
Very pretty location. And a nice area as well! House well cared for, nice people.
Only small drawback is that it is a bit akward to communicate because they don't speak English, but it does bring you to the best places so we decided that it is a good idea to learn some Italian.
Giovanni
Dear,
We were very happy with our accommodations. Wonderful views from the terrace, spacious and clean apartment, a bit poorly furnished, for instance no wineglasses, near Todi. Hospitable owners, communication can be a bit difficult (only italian), but we didn't perceive this as aproblem.
Only drawback are the sturdy matrasses. My partner thought the same as did some other guests. Will in the long run become a problem!
Regards, Cindy and Hans
Hello Willemijn,
We were very happy with our cottage (Todi House). Lovely view and a great house.
The hostesses stuffed us with delightful pasta meal and as many as 4 pies, there was also olive oil and wine from own grounds.
Regards, Rob
Dear Saskia and Willemijn,
We have arrived back home safely and hold fond memories of our holiday in Umbria.
The owners of Todi house were incredibly hospitable.
The location is splendid.
We left Friday afternoon. The owners thought we had left because we had not liked it. On the contrary. We had a wonderful time. The apartment was clean and well cared for. We have never had the pleasure before, of experiencing cakes and meals being offered to us.
Only pity is that we don't speak Italian and they don't speak English. At arrival we payed the amount due and we would like to have gotten a receipt but this was not well understood. During booking it wasn't clear to us that the terrace of apartment 3 has sun all day long. There was no sunscreen or parasol so we have hardly been able to make us of it.
All in all a great holiday. Maybe you are able to send the owners our best wishes and thanks for their hospitality.
Kind regards, Anja
Hello Willemijn,
We once again had a lovely holiday.
The owners brought us delicious homemade cake every 3 days and cooked once a week.
The accomodation is of course super with great views over Todi.
Very comfortable is the presence of a washing machine for general use.
The owners are extremely friendly and try to help you wherever possible. Pity no one speaks even 1 word of english. They only understand italian.
Only one improvement I'd like to make in the appartments:
Fit the wooden chairs with small felt patches. As all floors all tiled you immediately notice when someone moves a chair in another apartment. Specially when there are guests with children, who off course get up very early, chairs get moved quite often. This can be disagreeable. A small adjustment according to me where a lot of people could benefit from.
Lots of thanks for your help with our booking. It was a holiday to remember!
Regards, Family A.
Willemijn
We wanted to let you know that Todi house and the family were wonderful. What a beautiful location. We loved the upper apartment for the second four days. The family (Giovanni and Marco especially) were so helpful when my husband put the wrong gas in our rental car which meant we had no transportation over Easter weekend. They both helped drive us around, arranged for repairs, and were so nice about it all. The wives baked wonderful morning dulces and an Easter cheese cake. they gave us a bottle of red and white wine and olive oil when we arrived. The kids were great also. It was challenging with the language barrier and I wished we knew more Italian but we appreciated their patience with us. Our son who is studying in Torino was with us the first 4 days and really enjoyed the family and enjoyed practicing his Italian. Anyway, we brought back alot of Casale brochures and a packet of photos and will be passing the word to others about this delightful agriturismo. Thanks for your help setting it up. Lynn
Hello Willemijn,
I would like to, belatedly, give you response on our week in Umbria.
After arrival in Rome we rented a car (via Hertz) and drove in the direction of Todi, thanks to your itinerary.
We were wellcomed by a friendly italian family who was busy cleaning the pool. Soon enough we found out that these people only spoke italian, and we 'tourist italian' but with hands and feet we managed.
The apartment was clean as a whistle. There even was a huge homemade cake with coffee and milk. Very sweet. After 2 days the owners returned with a delightful fruit pie (yes we are from Limburg) Cherires and olive oil soon followed. These people are so sweet, but as there were only two of us, we ate cake nearly every evening after we came home from a day full of experiences.
The weather was a bit of a let down, very cold, we were very happy when it got warmer on Sunday.
In total we clocked up 1500 kilometers in beautiful Umbria. Todi, Spoleto, Perugia, the waterfalls, Lake Trasimeno, Assisi you name it, we really have seen a lot and it was all worthwhile.
Upon our departure we bought a nice bottle of wine for the hospitable owners, when we wanted to give it to them they were already waiting for us with their own bottle of homemade wine. (we had bought from the competitor) But we meant well.
It is to be recommended, we had a lovely week, thanks for all you assistance.
I know where to find you when I'll need you again!!
Kind regards, Bettina
Dear Willemijn,
Will you convey our thanks to the people who took care of us for their efforts during the lovely week!
Kind regards, Lieven
Hi,
Just wanted to say that we had a great week at Todi House. The owners were very friendly, and kept bringing us cakes, tarts - and an entire meal one evening. Lovely! Swimming pool is beautiful, weather was great, area interesting (Rome, Assisi and Orvieto were highlights for us).
Hope to come back one day when I've saved up again!
Best wishes, Mark
Dear mrs Lindeboom,
We'd like to let you know that we were overwhelmed by the great hospitality of the owners of Todi House. The apartment was above expectations, neat and practically new finished with very nice materials and well furnished. The owners really spoiled us! We got homemade olive oil, and their own white and red wine on many occasions. Every 3 days we received a homemade cake and once in a week they cooked for us. Bed linen and towels were in abundance. Our views were phenomenal. We would love to go back. Unfortunately due to the language barrier i think we were unable to show our gratitude in a satisfying way. Wuld you be so kind to take care of that? Thanks for you help in setting it up. It was fantastic and we can certainly recommend it to others.
Kind regards, Wilma
Hello Willemijn,
First of all a note to say that we really liked our stay, especially the Todi House, in Umbria. The owners are fantastic people, they helped us with everything, welcomed us with food on our first night and many times brought over wonderful homemade cakes. The surroundings were so beautiful, we have seen a lot yet also had a nice rest.
Maybe you can pass this on to the owners because for us it was quite hard due to the language. We normally managed using hand and feet, a bit of french and spanish, but then again it's all part of it.
If we ever are to return we'll certainly want to go back to the same adress, and if our friends or acquintances are heading in that direction we'll pass it on to them.
Kind regards, Ton and Annemarie
Willemijn
Just thought I would let you know about our stay at Todi House.
The owners were splendid hosts and very nice. Paola and Simonetta brought us cakes for colazione and their own olive oil and wine.
They were very attentive and helpful with anything that we needed. I hope they enjoyed having us as much as we enjoyed staying at their facility.
The facility is first rate. The apartments are new and very well- kept. The kitchen was well-equipped and very clean. The terraces were quite pleasant with a magnificent view of the Umbrian countryside.
Some of us enjoyed using the pool.
We found the location great for our trips to see the rest of Umbria.
Perugia, Terni, Assisi, Montefalco, and Spoleto were all within easy driving distance.
Each morning we walked up the hill to Grutti to have our espresso and to shop in the local markets. The butcher in Grutti is excellent as is the restaurant there.
All in all, this was a first rate experience and we appreciate your help in finding this little paradise. We will enthusiastically recommend it and you to others who plan to visit Italy.
Regards, Bob
Dear Willemijn,
I sent you this in consequence of our stay in Todi House. A fantastic location with very friendly and helpful people. It really was awesome.
Regards, Liesbet & Theo
Now that we are back in the US I wanted to express my gratitude to you and the owners of the wonderful villa in Todi that we enjoyed in November. Our visit to Umbria was great, the accommodations were comfortable and the information that we received from you was so helpful. The restaurant, Il Noci in Grutti was very good. Please tell the 2 women owners how much we enjoyed our stay. The wine and olive oil and homemade cake were so lovely.
I will gladly recommend it to others. Maria
just a short note to say how pleased we were with our accommodation in Todi.
The house was very clean and comfortable and the owners most hospitible.
The only problem we had really was following the directions to get there.
If we had not happened to stop at a pizzeria in Todi, where there was an English girl who gave us precise directions, we may never have found it.
Even when we got to Loreto, the house was hard to find, as it was getting dark, the sign was not light and the house is situated before the actual sign of Loreto itself.
If we had a map of the local area, we may have been able to find it ourselves a lot easier.
Regards, Lorraine
