Things to do in Umbria for children

Are you going on holiday to Umbria (Italy) with children? Below we have gathered some ideas as to what one can do with children in Umbria in central Italy.

Apart from the few ideas below, you can also take children to the many small medieval towns in Umbria and walk around. Usually one can see these town within about an hour and eat an ice cream somewhere on the piazza. The small alleys and old impressive buildings are also for children interesting, especially when you prepare the children with a few books about the middle ages and renaissance, where knights were heroes, cars did not exist, let alone TV and mobile phones. Walking through many of these typically Umbrian villages, perched on top of hills, you can feel like long forgotten times. Children have more immagination than most adults, so it does not take a lot to make them enjoy it all!

Not interested in the old times? Most towns have a small children play area, that is maintained well. These are simple, but for very young children it can be fun.

Ideas of what to do and visit with your children in Umbria:

Parco del sole

Marmore waterfalls
Spectacular man made waterfalls, that can be closed and opened (therefore, do check the opening times because a visit is especially interesting when the falls have water in them). Made by the Romans, making it even more impressive. A drop of 165 meters divided in three waterfalls. One can walk along the falls down a safe trail. Info, pictures and opening times and costs can be found on: www.marmorefalls.it (also in english).
