La Casella is a holiday cottage in the Umbrian countryside between Umbertide and Perugia. Ideally situated both for a tranquil day at the poolside, as well as for a nice afternoon in one of the beautiful and historically rich towns in Umbria or Tuscany.
The cottage is surrounded by a well kept garden with rose beds, fragrant herbs and some fruit trees. Here you will be able to relax in total privacy and natural shade. Do you want to be in the sun, then the pool area is the place to go.
The holiday cottage is all on one level and has a south facing covered terrace with outside and garden furniture. There is also a barbecue at the side of the house, where you have a second spacious terrace, with another outside table. From the outside terrace a wifi internet connection is possible.
The pool is at the end of the property, on a slightly lower level. The pool is shared with the owners, who know how to respect the privacy of their guests.
The owners of the cottage live on the same plot, in a totally separate setting. They are Italian, but speak some English. They are well read and have travelled extensively. Excellent hosts both for those who love their privacy, as well as for those who enjoy some good advice from time to time. The owners have a small dog and several cats.

this was the third time we visited La casella and we have booked again for next year.
This says all, doesn't it?
Best wishes, Paul
Dear Saskia,
first of all thanks for the good care you took of us and wonderful all could have been arranged so shortly before our arrival.
We look back with great pleasure on our holiday in La Casella.
The owners are extremely friendly and we had plenty privacy.
Very good service from you and the owners!
Really we do not have any negative to add, our holiday was superb and beautiful!
Best wishes, Family G.
From 2010:
Dear Saskia and Willemijn,
We had a great time in La Casella. Neat house and beautiful, tranquil surroundings.
Also the pool is great. And as you will know the weather overall was good.
If you want to look at the night sky you have to move to the pool area since there are some trees near the house, I assume they planned it this way since the owners live near the house. The owner and his family are extremely friendly and very attentive people which will never give you any trouble. We were even invited to join in on a very chatty family BBQ night. They had even installed Sky TV specially for us!
In comparison to Citta di Castello and San Sepolcro restaurants and bars in the nearby area are not abundant.
Overall a fantastic holiday.
Kind regards, Toon
Dear Willemijn and Saskia,
We had a lovely week in La Casella. It met our expectations so no comments. Lovely house, great surroundings, nice pool and friendly people.
No complaints.
All the best,
Kind regards, M.Q.
Ciao Saskia & Willemijn,
We are back home, the two weeks we stayed at La Casella flew by it seemed more like a week…!
We arrived the 26th of June and had to remain in the car for half an hour because of a downpour. The directions were very good an it was easy to find the house despite the bad weather. Owners Paola and Walter are sweethearts very hospitable and extremely friendly, we also met the son and his girlfriend Patrizia.
In two weeks we have been invited twice to have dinner with them, the first time Patrizia had her birthday and the second time the daughter of the owners had come over with her children. Everyone brought a dish, we had made the Dolce, it was a loooooooong party…..
La Casella is very cosy and really met our expectations, however we do have a few comments.
1. While the house was neat especially the kitchen and bathroom could have been neater.
2. The hood was very greasy and hadn't been cleaned.
3. Personally I'd replace the toilet in the bathroom since it has had its time.
4. In many drawers and cupboards you can find things that have no use like broken lamps, old paintings etc.
5. The garden surrounding the house could do with a bit more attention (my wife took up the job of gardener for two weeks).
Walter is a hardworking man who leaves the house very early and comes home late but they do have to keep in mind that the lovely house and garden need work now and then. With heavy hearts we left the 10th of July and we must have made an impression because when we arrived home there were already some emails from them awaiting us. One cat really missed us.
As said we had a super holiday at La Casella and the pictures we took will be a dear memory for us.
Thanks again, regards, Harry
From 2009:
Hello Willemijn and Saskia,
We returned home a few days ago. We had a wonderful stay in Umbria in a very enjoyable house in nice surroundings.
A few things I'd like to mention though:
The directions we received were perfect. Thank you for that. It isn't easy to find your way in Italy, just following signs. I do think though it is more comfortable for people to follow the A1 until Arezzo and follow the A45 from here in the direction Perugia/Rome. The E45 from Cesena is in very bad condition. We returned over Florence which was much more pleasant and didn't take more time.
The house itself is nice, spacious and comfortably furnished. There were many cats around though. If you do not like cats, you will have a problem here. They also entered the house, as soon as we left a door or window open. We like cats and didn't bother too much, but it must be said that they are always present.
Most of the time we had the pool to ourselves, perfect!!! In the weekend the owners also use the pool, with discretion, but still something to mention to new guests.
The house could be a bit cleaner (very italian!!!) and the dishwasher is useless.
The house and its friendly owners (we immediately got cherries, courgettes and salad from their garden) we warmly recommend. If we could, we would return tomorrow. Do send them our best regards.
Best regards to you, Hans and Caroline
From before 2009:

Hello Willemijn,
We have just returned from our holidays in Umbria and it was great!!!
thank You for Your guidance, all the tips regarding either places to go or places to eat etc were spot on, thank you!
We shall definitely ask You for some assistance in the future, for we definitely want to come back, maybe even to the very same place with the Marri Family. Can you arrange some better weather next time, please?
Best wishes, Marcin
Dear Willemijn,
It's been two weeks since we finished our holiday in Umbria, but we still look back on our stay at La Casella with fond memories. The house is beautifully situated, the owners were very friendly and the surroundings are very pretty. In brief, our holiday was above expectations. Communication with you was very speedy and yielded lots of extra tips regarding exploration of the area. Thank you so much for that.
Meanwhile we are sold on italy and looking forward to our next summer holiday. We thought about a week in Lombardia and a week in Tuscany and we wondered if you have any 'colleagues' in those regions who could supply us with some tips. (Equal holiday houses like La Casella are apparently not that easy to find ;)
Regards, Kris
Hello Willemijn,
We have returned to a not so sunny Holland! We thoroughly enjoyed La Casella, specially the pool was even more beautiful than we had thought. Also very friendly people and the kittens are always fun for the children.
We are thinking about returning to Italy next year and to be honest we would like to have the same house but.....the bed was somewhat rickety...... Do you think they might improve on that?
Thanks a lot, Josien
