Umbria is the green heart of Italy |
|
Luxury and spacious holiday rental in the centre of Spello, one of the jewels of Umbria's rich history. Spello is a fantastic medieval town to stay and enjoy the best of Italy. Set in the middle of old olive groves, looking over the fertile valley, Spello is culturally rich and breathes an unforgettable atmosphere. The Spello rental is on the ground floor in the centre, with huge terrace with beyond it a lovely flowering garden filled with antique roses and a few shady trees. The vacation rental is filled with light, accentuating its space and the ancient volted ceilings. It can sleep 4 people in total.
This vacation rental in the centre of Spello has three doors to the private terrace. The terrace, in spring and summer lined with fragrant flowers, is around 50 square meters, the shady garden is 150 square meters. The terrace has a big umbrella for shade in front of the house and a very nice stone table with wrought iron chairs. The rental property itself is a spacious 75 square meters. The ancient walls are thick and keep the temperature inside cool in summer and warm in winter.
The living room has a modern and comfortable, easy to make up sofabed and two elegant chairs, a television and home theatre system (with CD and DVD player). There is an ADSL point (no PC) upon request. From the living room you can pass an arch to come to the dining room or another arch to get to the corridor behind the dining room, lined with a huge closet and ending in front of the bathroom and bedroom doors.
The dining room is situated between the kitchen and the living. The table can seat in total 10 people, but is usually for 4 (it can be expanded). The kitchen has every comfort one could think of and is of excellent quality. There is a fridge with separate freezer, a diswasher, oven, large cooking area and lots of working space. Also from the kitchen there is a glass door to the outside.
There is one bedroom, again very spacious and comfortable. The bathroom is adjacent, with a separate entrance from the hall. There is a shower, toilet, washbasin and bidet. There is also a washing machine.
Spello is built against the 'Monte Subasio', surrounded by age old
olive groves. The valley Spello looks down on, starts at Assisi and
ends at Spoleto. A better area is difficult to find for somebody
interested in culture, nature and Italian cuisine. Spello itself has
many churches, musea and a well preserved medieval centre, less known
than Assisi but apart from famous churches, Spello offers at least as much.

From 2009: Dear Saskia and Willemijn, We had a very good time in Spello. The owners are very helpful and friendly. Really an address to remember. Thank you for finding it for us. Best regards, Riet
Dear Saskia and Willemijn, Our stay in the Casa Spello has been very satisfying. Even for italian standards, Spello is of a particular beauty and staying at the Casa Spello gave us a good opportunity to explore and enjoy the town. Very attractive is the closeness of cities like Perugia and Assisi and at the same time the open country side of Umbria. The train station is easy to reach. The house is spacious, well equipped and situated in the centre of town. We wish you succes with you business and thank you very much for organising this holiday for us. Regards, Jurgen
Ladies, We were in Spello, and it was SUPERB! Often pictures on websites are very overdone, in this case it was the contrary. If we decide to return to Umbria (or better: when we retrun to Umbria), it won't be hard to choose our accomodation. WE have recommended the house to several friends already. With kind regards, Monique & Bram
Dear Saskia and Willemijn, WE had a lovely week in the down town apartment in Spello. The contact with owner Sig. Bagliani was good and inspiring. Something to think about, though not meant as criticism: The owners have a very busy life and surely not the time to check out the whole house before every arrival. After cleaning the house some defects may not be seen. There was a mixer that did not function. No problem at all for us, but better to simply throw it out. The toilet cover needed to be fixed. We had wanted to tell the owner ourselves, but got lost every time in interesting and inspiring conversations. Again: the small defects did not in any way disturb our joy in staying at Casa Spello. Regards, Hans
Dear Saskia / Willemijn, We very much enjoyed staying in Spello: what a lovely village! I have no comments about the house: spacious, fresh even on hot days, nice private terrace in a lovely garden. If I do have to give a negative comment: the sofa smelled of wet dog ! With regards, Willem Comment owner: the sofa will be prfessionally cleaned during winter season.
Dear Saskia and Willemijn, We very much enjoyed our stay in Casa Spello. We do have a few comments, though: Upon arrival the first thing we did was cleaning the house. We are not particularly clean and neat, but the house really was not clean. We immediately mentioned it to the owner who was extremely friendly. IN the fridge were still the remains of the recent inhabitants. We completely cleaned it. The cupboards in the kitchen were really dirty. We washed up what we needed and left it outside the cupboards. Like was mentioned in the past the bin was really to dirty to touch. We cleaned the shower for about an hour. It was clear that it hadn't been còleaned for a while. We did not pay the extra for the cleaning. The owner didn't ask for it either. This all sounds very negative, but we also had a very good time in "our little house". We just hope this information can be helpful to you and any future guests. With kind regards, Saskia Comment owner: he has instructed the cleaning lady to better do her job.
Hello We have been home one week now and stayed in Spello. What a wonderful week we had! In a wonderful location: neat, spacious and centrally located. Everything was perfect. The owner is a friendly man and has very interesting travel tips for his guests. Thank you, this was worth repeating! Lieve and Rob
From before 2009: Hi Saskia and Willemijn, the holiday-appartment in Spello is spaciously laid out, with a central hall, a big living room, a middle room, bedroom and a kitchen. It borders on a big terrace with an indoor garden were it is very serene and great to while away some time. If the bustle of the village slips from ones mind. Not that it is that busy in Spello. It is a very old, pretty village situated on a hill so one is always climbing or descending during a walk. Lots of little streets and alleys with brick paving and no cars because they simply aren't able to squeeze there way around. There are soms streets where cars can pass and where they do so but it remains fairly quiet. The village is visited by a lot of tourists but most of them have left come evening. You are not allowed to park your car in front of the apartment but there is ample parking space just outside the village, a few minutes by foot. You can park the car in front to offload your luggage. That is rather convenient. You get easily used to the fact that the car is parked a bit further along. The house is luxuriously decorated and provides all necessary amenities. The owner is very kind and helpful. He lives in the village as well, a couple of houses from the appartment, his garden adjacens the one of the appartment but he is rarely spotted. Only when one needs him. Spello is favourably located, in an area where there is a lot to see and do. The only drawback we encountered was the weather The last two weeks of May 2008 we encountered quite a bit of rain and it wasn't all that warm. fortunately we also had a few nice days. The nadir was our excursion to Rome were it didn't so much rain as came pouring down the whole day. We were soaked! Nevertheless Casa Spello is warmly recommended. Anita & Peter
Dear mrs. The Umbria part of our holiday was very enjoyable. The house in Spello as offered by you is very attractive. A special place. The owner, a doctor is very attentive and maintains an agreeable distance, you barely notice he lives in the back garden. Wireless network is provided, wonderful. If you happen to hear from him please greet him from us as we didn't have the opportunity because we left early. Regards from a wet Belgium, Ward
Good evening Willemijn, We had a wonderful holiday in Spello, our compliments for the lovely address. Kind regards, Tinus
Hello Willemijn and Saskia, We really liked the house in Spello. Ample (storage)space and a nice garden. Nice owner who had some tips regarding the surrounding area. A few minor details: the cleaning of the house, especially the kitchen should be done more thoroughly. The fridge was filthy on the inside and i cleaned it myself before dared placing my own stuff inside. The cupboard with the built-in waste-paper basket was also dirty. Furthermore the use of carpet in a rented house isn't very practical: difficult to clean. A very small detail: when you come home at night it is quite dark in the alley wich makes that you have to grope for the lock. I did see a lamp above the door, but was not able to find out how to put it on (maybe broken?). Besides that I had a lovely holiday! Kind regards, Maaike
Note Villa in Umbria: the owner says he and his wife are always
taking care of the cleaning in depth. They regret the guests did not
mention anything while there because they would have taken care of
any problem immediately, as they always do.
Thank you for your sms-message. We regret that we could not say good bye to you. We had to leave early because we were to visit friends in Ostra on our way home. We really enjoyed our stay in Spello. Your accomodation is excellent en leaves hardly any room for further wishes. We enjoyed it thouroughly. Best regards, M.
We have just arrived home this morning. Once again thank you so much for an excellent job in organising our trip to Spello, especially our wedding which went so very well. I received all the photos, thank you, and so did my friends and family. That was great. Best wishes, Shirley and Ted
Sorry not to write to you earlier but we have been very busy. We had a wonderful holiday at Casa Spello in excellent weather. The apartment was delightful and the terrace and garden made such a difference. The owner was a most friendly and interesting host. He even showed us his collection of motor bikes in the cantina and then took us to his house for coffee and a look around! Spello was one of the most beautiful small towns we have ever seen. The Roman and Mediaeval architecture, the frescoes and the flowers were wonderful. One practical point: There is a good supermarket only 400 metres from the Piazza Kennedy on the Foligno road. If we had known this on our way to Spello, it would have been much easier for us than Ipercoop at Collestrada. Thank you for your help over the past few months. Best wishes, Judy and Mike |
