Umbria Convent with apartments for holiday rental

Let your dreams come true and organise a stay in this old convent of the 12th century, covered in age old frescos (also about the life of St. Francis). Ideally situated on walking distance from Lugnano, close to Amelia, Narni and only one hour from the centre of Rome. Stay in one of the former monks cells, now turned into elegant apartments. The whole convent has been restored into a residence with apartments. Three of the apartments are now offered for holiday rentals, the smallest one has airconditioning. The convent has a semi olimpic pool of 25 by 12,5 meters (open in July and August) and a tennis court. The walled gardens slope down and around the convent, filled with century old evergreen trees on terraces, quiet and cool in summer.     Send this page to a friend Comments of guests Availability Umbria convent: apartment Botte, Forno & Pozzo Where to find the Umbrian convent Pictures and information about Umbria This convent is the place to go if you would like a different holiday, immersed in the past centuries and yet comfortably close to a nice hilltop village with restaurants (the convent also has a restaurant, but this is closed at the moment and we do not know when it will re-open). Lugnano was founded in 600 a.C. The three apartments of this beautiful convent that are now let for holidays are: Apartment Botte The biggest of the three (42 sqm), on the ground floor and with a lovely private walled garden. There is one bedroom and a double sofabed in the living room with very elegant kitchen in a cupboard. There is satellite TV. The outside old breadoven has been converted in a kind of outside kitchen.     Apartment Forno Apartment on the first floor (38 sqm), enjoying excellent views over the valley. This apartment with one double bedroom has a kitchen corner in the living room. The bedroom is open, making the apartment very light and elegant. The hall where the entrance to this apartment is, has a lovely arched covered terrace at its end. There is satellite TV. Apartment Pozzo This apartment (22 sqm) is really one big room with a separate bathroom. The windows see onto the convents main square (chiostro). There is airconditioning installed. The apartment is also situated on the first floor, on the same hall with terrace at the end. Here you also have satellite TV.   The kitchen corners of the apartments are suitable for preparing some simple meals, but not for extensive cooking. The prices (in Euro per week) of these unique apartments are: Season Apartment Pozzo (2) Apartment  Forno (2) Apartment Botte (2) low 300 400 480 middle 360 500 590 high 450 600 720 Prices are all inclusive, apart from heating is the colder months. Guests bring their own towels for the pool. The apartments are for 2 people only. Groups are not accepted. There is a 5% reduction for guests who stayed at the convent in 2008 and/or 2009. The seasons are as follows: low: 1/1 - 3/4 and 25/9 - 31/12 middle: 3/4 - 3/7 and 28/8 - 25/9 high: 3/7 - 28/8 The old convent has a 25 meter private swimming pool. The pool is only full time open in July and August. In June and September the pool is open in the weekends only. The tennis court and bocce area are always open for use. The table tennis table is also always usable. How to book: you can send us an email indicating the apartment and period you would like to stay in the convent (see contact Villa in Umbria for details). We will double check the availability with the owners and then confirm your booking in an email. The owners ask for a 50% booking deposit, payable via bank transfer. The balance can be paid upon arrival. The security deposit is 150 euro. Car rental

Good room (unfortanutaly without private terrace, but we knew that), nice pool and tennis court, good information before departure, pleasant comunication, good weather (though nobody can influence the weather) and safe parking. We prefer the surroundings of Lake Trasimeno, but still we also enjoyed this area.Your information is just fine. Maybe it is good to mention that at the convent guests can use a free wi fi connection in a common room on the ground floor. There were some problems with the water supply, but the owner did his utmost to get it resolved as quick as possible. The convent really is a beautiful place. The apartment with small garden we can warmly recommend to any future guest of the convent. Other years we never stayed more then one week at the same place, this time two weeks were far too short. A tip for any future guest that likes cycling: do take your bike with you! It is larger then what it seems on the pictures and in the garden with outside kitchen it is good relaxing. Cleaning lady Luciana was very helpful. When we had car problems she gave us a lift several times and even invited us for a local party in Lugnano. We missed our car a few days and hence were more at the convent, obliged to stay around the pool. Not a curse at all, to laze in the shade of the olive trees and enjoy the special atmosfere of the convent. What else to say. Good apartment, kind hosts, enough villages and towns in the area to do some interesting sight seeing  and only an hour by train to Rome. In short: above all expectations. Apart from that we treasured the hospitality of Mercedes and Bruno, discreet but always helpful and attentive. In the village we were able to do all our groceries and the people were very friendly. Only minor point was the bed in the bedroom. The what was original a settee-bed  became somewhat uncomfortable in the following days if we are allowed to say so. The matrass was thin and the coils were worn in the middle. It was a reason to leave a day early. Maybe the owner can solve this problem? Besides that the appartment is to be recommended to all! All praise for your wine tasting! Great location, well executed and fantastic quality wines. We took 4 boxes and are sorry we didn't load up the car some more. Good luck with your company and who knows till next time. Regarding our appartments: nice reception and ditto owner, lovely pool [necessary with an average 38c degrees]. beautiful surroundings, nice villages,.... We even got a portable airco-unit in the second week [what do you mean: Il Forno..?] The only drawback was the kitchen, not only the small area but also the equipment: to make a cup of tea water had to be boiled in a large pan [difficult to light gas, burned my fingers once] and regarding teacups there was only something smallish ore something extremely large. An electrical watercooker and a few teacups would be wellcome here. Furthermore on your website it is mentioned that the area is 38 square meters wich seems quit large to me, but that besides.
