Ecological vacation villa with view on Spoleto: Villa Ecologica

Villa ecologica is a spacious and very elegant ecological villa with view on Spoleto in Umbria. There are 5 bedrooms, each with bathroom. The villa has a private garden, set in the midst of an olive grove with several donkeys who keep the grass cut short (the donkeys are fenced in and not close to the villa).

This vacation villa is part of a group of houses where the owners live. The owner speaks English. Part of the property has been turned into a beautiful studio where she organises yoga classes, stress releaving treatments and flower therapies. The owners do use the pool, but give high priority to the privacy of guests.

This is a very special vacation villa for groups or a few families together who love animals (there are donkeys and a few cats), like nature and want to live in respect of nature. Obviously for anybody interested in yoga, stress relieving treatments and other alternative relaxing body therapies, this is the place to rent!

This vacation villa is situated on a few kilometers from Spoleto. One can walk (2.5 km) to shops, a restaurant and a bar. Spoleto itself is on 5 km.

The ecological vacation villa is set up as follows:

Ground floor: entrance in the living area with lovely wooden furniture all hand made, with the sitting room (with fire place) on the left and the dining room to the right, all in one spacious open area. The large kitchen (with ample working space, a big oven, 5 pit cooker, dishwasher and a lot of storage space) has a big glass sliding door and is situated behind the dining area. A door in front of the kitchen gives access to the private terrace and garden, where guests can relax and dine together under a stunning pergola of wild roses. In the hallway one finds a small guest bathroom.
The back of the house has a bedroom suitable for wheelchair users, with its own bathroom.

First floor: there is an internal staircase as well as an external one, leading up to the first floor of this ecological villa. The first floor has 4 bedrooms, all doubles that can also be made up as twins. Each bedroom has a spacious wooden platform with one or two single beds, ideal for children to sleep on.

The ecological villa has a private garden with wooden good quality garden furniture. Around the pool the guests have sunbeds, also made in wood. There is ample parking out of sight of the house (one can always drive up to the house to load or unload).

The villa has been built using ecological materials and with the latest building technologies for energy efficiency. The roof is a ventilating roof, heating is through wall panels, where new materials were needed, wood and stone have been used. The result is a villa with extremely comfortable feel about it and done with modern attractive furnishings, also where possibile ecological (the mattrasses are, for example, made from natural latex).

The prices of Villa Ecologica are as follows:

July & August plus Easter - Euro 2200 per week for a max of 10 guests. Every extra guest is 80 euro per week extra.
Rest of the year: 1500 euro per week for a max of 6 guests and every extra guest is 80 euro per week extra.

Prices are not inclusive of 15 euro per person for linnen and towels. Also the electricity and water is paid for at a rate of 100 euro per week. Gas in the colder months is also not included.

How to book: you can send an email (or contact us, villa in umbria) indicating the period you would like. We will double check the availability with the owners (to be sure) and then confirm your booking in an email. The owners ask for a 30% booking deposit, via bank transfer. The rest should be paid one month in advance. The security deposit is 400 euro.

Dear Saskia and Willemijn,

Our holiday is already over for quite a while, but I would still like to thank you for your professional, but personal approach in helping us deciding which house to rent.

We, two families with in total 7 members, had wonderful days in the Villa Ecologica near Spoleto.

The Villa was much better then we expected from the pictures. It is very large and has all the comfort one needs to really relax and enjoy a holiday.

The garden is quiet and well taken care of. The pool was extremely clean and good to swim in. The owner was very friendly and helpful whenever we had some questions.

Spoleto is a nice old town with, to our spositive surprise, not that many tourists.

The families Bruninx-Jorissen and Jorissen-Jans got a fantastic time in Villa Ecologica during our 2 weeks stay (10 -27 July) !

This house is truly the best experiences in the 5 years that we travel to Toscany and Umbria. As we both have disabled children (one in a wheelchair and one with severe autism) it is so important to have an environment where they (we) feel at home and Villa Ecologica certainly answered that need.

The house itself, the rooms, the kitchen, the pool area, everything is adapted to give everybody (and also disabled children) an unforgettable holiday feeling in a breath-taking environement.

And we want to give special thanks to the owners of the villa, who live nearby, but who were so discrete that you won't notice them unless you needed them.

Elisabeth and here husband did their utmost best to help us to solve small practical issues on the spot. And not to forget the tasteful vegetables, olive oil and wine we got from them...

Good day,

Our stay in the Villa Ecologica has been a pleasure.

The vIlla is very large and there is everything you need for 16/16 people. We were with 5 adults and 5 children. The kitchen is large with enough pots, pans, plates etc. This is not always the case in large houses. Up to three times we got fresh figs from the owner.

Elisabetta also gave us a lot of information about activities in the area. With the children we ended up not using her tips, but we suppose for other people it'll be very welcome.

Temperary negative aspect - if we need to mention one - would be that we had problems with the umbrella of the dining table. It was broken. We ended up moving the table to different spots in the morning and in the evening to be able to sit in the shade of the large chestnut tree.

The bleating of the donkeys may disturn somebody, but we thought it added to the charm of the place.

A small advise: some lights around the pool (now only in the pool) would guarantee wonderful evenings around and in the pool. Elisabetta, though, pointed out to us that there are some very strict rules that she needs to follow to be able to rent out. One of these concerns the lights near the pool. We understand her point of view.

Elisabetta and Altero had a lot of respect for our privacy. They were never at the pool together with us, which for us wouldn't have been necessary.

Spoleto also is a good basis to explore parts of Umbria.

We really enjoyed our stay at Villa Ecologica near Spoleto, only praise.

The house is brand new, very comfortable, everything one needs is there, all very clean, every room its own bathroom, fantastically well equiped kitchen so well suited to foodies.

Swimming pool and garden lovely.

The owners are very helpful and friendly, sometimes a bit uncertain of their role. They make use of the swimming pool now and then but it is certainly not an inconvenience. It would be good to know that they are there (for gasts who care for even more privacy).
