Why you should spend your holiday in Umbria

Why Umbria? Umbria is a wonderfull place for your holiday, both in the summer and other seasons. The countryside is mostly unspoilt, you will find woods, olivegroves, fruit trees and few houses. Most houses in the countryside are old and have been restored to their original state. This creates a special atmosphere and provides a lovely and healthy environment to relax in. Umbria offers, apart from the landscape, many towns and cities worth visiting. To mention a few: Assisi, Perugia, Gubbio, Spello, Orvieto, Cortona, Spoleto, Castiglione del Lago, Todi, Citta di Castello and many many more. Then we have Lago Trasimeno, where one can visit the small islands and walk around, apart from enjoying a day on the beach or an evening at the lakeside in one of the mouthwatering fish restaurants.   Why booking through Villa in Umbria? A good reason for booking one of the houses on this website, is that the owners are mostly Italians, living close by their rental properties. Therefore they are able to provide an excellent service in case something does not work properly. Renters can give me a call and I then make sure the owners deal with the issue. Lastly, I will send you an information pack with some tips about being in Umbria, a few itineraries I personally like, where to go shopping, and of course with a few good restaurants and how to get there.   Who is behind Villa In Umbria? Villa In Umbria is the initiative of Willemijn Lindeboom. That is me. I have been living in the Umbrian countryside since 2001, after having worked 5 years in Tanzania and Zambia (Africa). I have a Masters degree in 'Industrial Engineering' from the Technical University of Twente in The Netherlands. I am writing short stories about the Umbrian countryside (in Dutch) and the Umbri themselves. These can be found on the Dutch website Italie.nl.
