Arrival time is between 4 and 7 pm. Departure is before 9.30 in the morning.
Take the Italian Autostrada A1: Milan – Modena – Bologna – Firenze – in the direction of Rome. If you come from Rome, take the A1 in the direction of Firenze – Bologna. Exit this highway at Fabro.
Having paid at the toll boot you go left towards Fabro Scalo. At the first roundabout go straight ahead in the direction of Montegabbione. After 1 km you will get to a Y-junction. Keep left, always towards Montegabbione. Just before Montegabbione you will see the sign for Montegiove. Go right here, after 7 kms you will see the Castello di Montegiove on its hilltop. Pass the village (to your left) and follow the road for another 1.2 kms, until you see a sand colored house on your left. Here there also is a road to the right with the sign of Palombella. Do NOT go right, but left just before the sand colored house onto the non tarred road leading up to the Podere del Buongustaio.

If you wish the owner can do some shopping for you before your arrival. Please send a shopping list at least one week before arrival. You will pay for the expenses of the groceries. There are no extra costs.
Your host also is a chef. She can cook a meal for you for the evening of your arrival or any other evening you prefer. She will cook an antipasto, Lasagne, Risotto or Spaghetti and a desert for euro 21,50 including water, coffee and a glass of wine.
Regularly your host makes her own fresh bread. You can order this for euro 2,50 per bread.

Bettola del Buttero in Fabro Scalo for a lovely chianina steak. They have their own Chianina cows.
Pizzeria La Tana del Gufo in Monteleone d'Orvieto
La Mezza Luna in Orvieto for the best Carbonara you ever tasted.
Trattoria Faliero at Lake Trasimeno for the best Torta al Testo and fried fish and also because the concept is different: self service, lots of choice, very hectic, price quality is very good and rather cheap. It is always extremely busy and many italians come here.
But the best way to indulge in Italian culture is to visit one of the many sagra's in the area. You host can, if you wish, accompany you to one of these local village feasts.
And for a good cappuccino go to Tavernelle, bar Tradition and to Castiglione del Lago Michele & co. The latter also has a very wide choice of pastries.
A stay at Podere del Buongustaio not only guarantees peace and quietness, but also tours in the area for who is interested. The choice of an activity will be decided together with the guests and can be personalized. The maximum number of participants per activity is 4.
Already in Etruscan times (7e - 5e century b.C.) the Umbrians made their own wine. In Tuscany and umbria official wine tours have been made, clearly signposted. To avoid the mass tourism, your host can also take you to small wine producers chosen and tested by her. Hereyou can literally taste the personal involvement of the wine producer. The all day wine tour costs euro 175 per day, per person and are inclusive of a full lunch and transport. Upon request also smaller and personalised can be organised.
Your host, Adje, is a very skilled gourmet cook, with many years’ experience. She is now turning to cooking for private customers, and will come into your home and completely take over for a lunch, dinner or an outdoor meal. But you can also come to Podere del Buon Gustaio for lunch or dinner. She specializes in what she calls ‘fusion cooking’, a blend of the very best of international cookery. She loves cooking Oriental dishes, delicious ice cream, a wonderful variety of bread… and of course Umbrian cooking.
Your host enjoys sharing her knowledge of the local cuisine using fresh local products as much as possible. Depending on the menu and the number of participants the price is from euro 50 per person including the lunch or dinner with wine, water and coffee.
Hunting for truffles and other mushrooms
In the immediate surroundings of the podere it is possible to find truffles and other mushrooms. Your host can assist you together with a truffle hunter to go and find you own truffles. If you wish this can be followed by a cooking course using the truffles and mushrooms found. Depending on whether guests would want the cooking course and amount of participants, truffle hunting costs from euro 30 per person.
This activity can only be organized in November when it is the time for olive picking and the production of the olive oil. At the podere there are 200 olive trees and guests are welcome to join the olive picking. A very italian tradition.
