Events and local festivals in Umbria
Visiting Umbria, one should try to take part in one or more of the typical Umbria events that take place every year around the same time in the same places.
The festivals and sagra's in small Umbrian towns are the places to go if you like to participate in or observe real Italian village life. Usually, there is excellent food, music, dancing, and a lot of happy people enjoying an evening in the open air.
There are quite a few larger events that are world-famous, like Umbria Jazz in Perugia and the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto. These and also the lesser-known are surely worth a visit when you are in the area.

Apart from these big events, there are many local sagra's and festivals throughout the year, with food, music and town square dancing. These smaller events can be found by looking at the posters they hang everywhere in the immediate area or pamphlets left in the local bars.
