Every year in September one celebrates the saint San Vittorino in Acquaviva. San Vittorino is the patron saint of this small village close to Montepulciano in Tuscany and at a stone’s throw from the Trasimeno Lake in Umbria. Acquaviva is surrounded by vineyards where the grapes for the “Nobile di Montepulciano” grow. During the feast there are a lot of stands where you can get things to eat like ham, cheese, porchetta sandwiches, vegetables and fresh fruit.
Our running team “Filippide” was well represented at the race that was organized here. The race led us through the vineyards of Montepulciano and back into the city centre of Acquaviva. We past so many wineries that I lost count.
This running track is also a track for (nordic) walking. This is the link of my Garmin Connect, should you wish to do this walk. It is rather hilly and not all asphalted but a beautiful way to see the area where the Nobile di Montepulciano is produced.
