Palazzo San Savino is located in Umbria near Umbertide. The location has a rich history that goes back 5 centuries. An important testimony to the distant past is the small church, the oratory of Saint San Savino, a monk of Monte Corona, that can be found on the premises.
The owners live on the same premises and their house was home to the monks who built the hermitage of Monte Corona (1530) dedicated to the famous local monk Saint San Savino. Its location halfway up the mountain between the Abbey of San Salvatore and the Hermitage made it an ideal place to stay and pray while the hermitage was being built. Both abbeys are still in use by a closed monk community and are partially open to visitors.
On the ground floor of the detached holiday home is the spacious kitchen with a dishwasher, large refrigerator, 4 pit gas hob, and electric oven. There is a sitting room with a half-open floor where the television is. Also on the ground floor is a bathroom with a shower and a bedroom with a double bed.
There is a first floor with a study room and a double bedroom with a balcony. On the second floor are two more double rooms and a second bathroom with a shower.
From Palazzo San Savino you have a panoramic view of the Apennines and you are surrounded by forests and olive trees. The plot is 1 hectare and the swimming pool measures 13 by 6 meters and is 1.50 meters deep. An ideal place to relax, but also to actively explore the area on foot or by mountain bike.
The center of Umbertide is about a 15-minute drive away. There is a local market here every Wednesday morning and there are several supermarkets, restaurants, and bars.
Other distances from the Villa San Savino: Montone 25 minutes, Città di Castello 30 minutes, Gubbio 35 minutes, Perugia 40 minutes, Assisi 45 minutes, Lake Trasimeno 40 minutes
In Tuscany: Sansepolcro and Anghiari in Tuscany 40 minutes, Cortona 60 minutes, Arezzo 70 minutes
A winding mountain road from the Abbey of Montecorona towards the Eremo di Monte Corona takes you about halfway up the mountain to Palazzo San Savino. In the last bit, you drive through a forest to arrive at a fence behind which you can see the house.
The rental price of Palazzo San Savino does not include final cleaning. Upon arrival, you pay €100.
Guests cannot bring their dogs. The owners have a small and friendly dog that walks freely in the garden.
