Train connections
The easiest stations for direct train connections to Firenze and Rome are either Terontola (just North of Lake Trasimeno, near Cortona), Perugia Ponte San Giovanni or Foligno (South of Assisi). If you are staying in the South of Umbria you can easily take a train from Orte.

Visiting Florence or Rome by train is much easier and faster than by car. These cities are not easily accessible by car, there is a lot of traffic and finding parking space can be a nightmare.
Flights to Umbria
In order to easily drive to Umbria, you can fly to:
- Perugia (Umbria Airport): direct flights from London Stansted with Ryanair all year round and in July and August from Heathrow with British Airways.
- Ancona: flights from London Stansted with Ryanair and from Gatwick with Easyjet.
- Bologna
- Firenze
- Rome Fiumicino
- Rome Ciampino
- Pisa
