What we have here is Italian inventiveness at the max. Let me explain.

You know the feeling you really fancy something grilled on a woodfire but, especially in winter, can’t be bothered to go out and light a fire? What to do? Do like they do in Umbria!
… take some already burning wood from your wood burning heater put them in the metal tray, put your ‘graticola’ (grill) on top and ‘fatto’ you are good to go!

(real ‘Umbri’ grill directly in their fireplace … but ‘non c’e’ l’ho’ … This little steel wonder above was a present from our experienced grillers and very kind neighbours).
