
Fagiolina del lago
A friend of mine directed me to a nice initiative last september.
You were allowed to harvest the famous fagiolina del lago at agriturismo Melagrani.
It started at 17.30. First there was a short talk about the history of the bean (wich is harvested by hand) We were then guided to the fields and collected beans for about 90 minutes. You immediately knew why these beans are so valuable. It really is a lot of work picking them. Our four hands picked about 6kg in one and a half hours. And i asure you, no slacking! Payment (12 euro) was in vouchers wich you could spend on farm products in the little farm shop.
After all this hard work we feasted on a great aperitivo, bruschetta and local dishes including the famous beans! All the ingredients, naturally, were mainly products of this farm.
