Snocciolatore

That is Italian for a stoner, a machine which removes pits/stones from fruit. Now we had loads of cherries from our neighbours that we could come and pick and now the cherry trees on the grounds where we live are loaded with ripe fruit.

I love cherries but if you want to keep them you have to destone them which is a chore. Or better it was one, enter the snocciolatore. Theoratically it is said that you can destone up to 10kg of cherries in an hour with it. We did not test this but have serious doubts about it. However, it works very well.

We boil the cherries up put them in small containers and pop them in the freezer or just spread them out on a plate and freeze them.

Great if you need sunny fruit on a cold winters day.
