Ok, this is not Umbria, but I really wanted to say something about this place. Castello di Sorci is an old farm “podere” in the Tuscan countryside, close to Arezzo. We went there for lunch with friends to celebrate Gianfranco’s 40th birthday. I was the only “Dutch – umbra” the rest of us was Tuscan. Anyhow, I enjoyed so much this lunch and the podere, that I really want to recommend this restaurant to everybody who is staying or passing by in the area. Very good food, and the service by the “nonna” is such a nice Italian experience. Like every Italian mamma, she is disappointed and worried when guests do not finish their pasta!
Besides the delicious food, the garden and surroundings are really lovely.
A nice tip: to digest the lunch (really necessary!) you can visit the little village Anghiari. Anghiari is only a few km from the podere. It is a medieval town with outstanding views, nice shops and terraces.
A wonderful day trip, also for guests staying in the North of Umbria!
Gosh – makes me hungry! Your photos look scrumptious!
Everything was fresh, home-made..delicious!
O my goodness!! I just realised I stayed here for a few days one deep dark winter many years ago…. I can remember sitting at the table of our apartment writing about how happy I was… Thank you for the memories!
You stayed in Anghiari or at the Locanda al Castello di Sorci? Beautiful isn’t it? Definitely you need to go back in the Summer season, when families eating outside enjoying the good food en the nice views..
