We are getting the hang of photoblogs it seems. A good friend paid us a short visit and roamed the countryside with our camera. Nice to see Umbria from a non inhabitant.
Check out the second picture it is the famous borage. Our friend was unaware of the fact that it is used quite a lot in cooking. It makes fantastic risotto, you can use it in salads and in Naples they mix it with lentils, you can put it in ravioli and even make sauces with it. Oh and why not serve it as a vegetable as it is. Besides all this it has medicinal uses and it can be put to good use as a companion plant for vegetables (tomatoes supposedly taste better when planted next to it). Borage also is a magnet for bees.
So go on, plant some borage! If only for the beautifull flowers.
